snowy sunday

On Sunday we woke up to almost 2 feet of snow. It didn't stop falling all day- The craziest part was that Tahoe and the mountains didn't see nearly any snow, it was all in the valley. Usually we get a few inches while Tahoe and the mountains get pounded. Crazy weather, but fun non the less. The hard part was that it looked like this last weekend... 60 degree t-shirt weather!

pure joy

This is the look we got from the boy when the garage door opened and Cloe headed out into the 24 inches of fun.

nose dive

She is more like a seal then a dog when the snow is this deep.

Hey Mom, this stuff is CRAZY!

snow exploring

I'm off to check things out now, see you later...

making a snowball

Wait, you can make a BALL out of this stuff and THROW it?

Awesome! I am in, I am totally in.

and then, about 15 minutes later....
lunch sleeping
must stay awake, must keep chewing.

oh, well. Lunch can wait...

At this point I was laughing so hard I was snorting. We were a little worried since he had a mouth full of half chewed chicken but we got him to wake up, and stay awake long enough to chew and swallow it all. he slept for 3+ hours after we moved him to a bed. I have never seen him do this before, so I knew he was spent.

wagon boy

He looks like such a big, big boy in this shot, maybe his new haircut? or maybe, just maybe he isn't such a baby any more...

I was cooking dinner a few nights ago and O pulled this wagon (which was mine as a kid) into the kitchen. He usually pushes all his toys around the island, crashing into the cabinets, the kitchen chairs on his way or when his aim is really good my ankles... I was trying to not pay attention to him so I could get dinner done (not making eye contact is an important diversionary tactic, as are grahm crackers and peanut butter...)

wagon boy

Any way, I heard him throwing all the toys out onto the floor (chucking things across the room is a new favorite past time, not just toys but food. I was splattered in pasta a couple of days ago, good times). I heard a few grunts and I turned around to see him in the wagon, no help needed.

wagon boy

He sorta got stuck in there. But like any good photographer mama, I grabbed my camera and snapped away. He will thank me in the long run, right?

wisdom from an elder... corner view

Hello! how are you all? Long time no type, huh?

Things are good, work is crazy, the baby is getting more teeth, I am healthy, the sun is shining outside and it is still light out when I get home from work!
so good.

This week's corner view challenge is, "wisdom from an elder". I instantly thought of this photo that I snapped at my best friend's wedding. She and her sweets got hitched at a fancy little spot in Maui 2 years ago (really, 2?). This adorable couple who were at the hotel where the reception was being held came over to Em and handed her this drink coaster- I love the words and the special gift from a stranger....
random well wishes

it reads,

Wisdom gained from 51 years-
Forgive quickly
Hug deeply
Kiss slowly
Love truly

I sorta get all teary eyed just reading it...

from the archives

One year ago today... punk rawk baby.
so much has changed but so much is the same- I actually did his hair like this this morning, not even thinking about this photo~
He is such a 'kid' now, and not really a baby these days. It makes me a little sad, but I am loving to watch the person he is becoming. A strong, smart and silly kid with a big heart. Willing to give sweet puckered lip kisses if I ask and snuggle on the couch while he drinks his milk and me my tea in the morning while we wake up with the sun.

God I love this kid.so.much.

~~~~
I am feeling 100-million-trillion times better. I am eating again (those antibiotics really did a number on my already sensitive tummy) and have energy back. Though I did take a nice little 1.5hr nap yesterday after a morning full of running around town for a new toilet seat, dog food, face lotion/wash- all fueled by my new favorite s-bucks hot chocolate. (they recently changed their teas and now the chia that was once my absolute favorite go to drink is GROSS- do hear that Starbucks? GROSS!).
Thanks for all your well wishes, I really do mean it when I say they helped.
I haven't touched my camera in over a week. it makes me a bit scared that I have totally lost my photo mojo, that maybe this creative phase is over and done. I hope not. I just need to pick her up again, but I needed this break and I am glad I am allowing myself to work thru it.
xo friends.
