There is something about getting ready for a night on the town with some of your oldest (as in I have known them the longest) friends. The preparation of it all takes longer than the time spent actually going out, but truly, this is probably my favorite part.
Watching each woman transform her reflection from one person to another. Clothes are put on, examined and swapped out for others. The curling and flat irons are heated and argued over. We each jockey for a space in front of the full length mirror. Lashes are lengthened and cheeks are blushed. The prefect earrings and necklace, what purse to bring?
There is a rhythm about it all and it puts a smile on my face...
I will be checking in over the next few days to share some holiday cheer. There are cookies to bake and things to sew. A few last minute details to wrap up and then, it can be Christmas....
PS incase any of you are worried about the wedding rings on the counter, they did go back on the ring finger before we headed out... one doesn't want to much up a pretty diamond with lotion, right?
i love this "befpre going out" ritual, too. reminds me of when i was in college and all the girls on my hall would get ready to go out...so much fun.
