Name game

naming, a few

Over 60,000 names just in that one book... I think I have almost completely read through the entire girl's section and most of the boys. You start to get dizzy after awhile.
You don't want the name to be too out there or so common that you know 10 other's with the same name (first and last in our case). You don't want it to be the spur of jokes and teasing on the playground. You have to think about how it will be shortened. Famous people and songs it could reference (again in our case we have to be extra careful since there are a few famous amoses with our last name). And sometimes even if you like the way the name sounds in your head, once it has been read out loud it totally gets marked off the list... I think we have settled on a boy's name, with a back up just in case- I have a winning girl's name (or 5), just have to convince the husbandman that it is/they are a keeper(s)

Tomorrow we head into the super cool ultrasound place. They have a plasma screen and a comfy couch to lean back on while they illuminate the action going on inside. There will be measuring of arms and legs, looking at vital organs, maybe even a three-d shot of baby's face. I have started to feel the little movements deep down, little somersaults- reminds me of the Zero 7 song... It is thrilling and strange all at once. the belly is truly showing now (shots to come) and I have had the belly rubbing from people at work- I kinda don't mind this- I just figure the more loving touch that baby gets the better, who wouldn't want to be passed on some love via a good pat? (I totally know I am probably alone in this one, but I just think it is fun to let everyone share in the joy of it all)

Looking to get out the camera a bit this weekend.. Spring has started to show and the trees around town are glowing in pinkish purples and ivory whites. it is beautiful. Also looking forward to my prenatal yoga tonight and Saturday morning and hanging out with a sweet girlfriend of mine and her babe. Should be a nice one...

be well friends!

  1. if we had had a girl, we would have named her pearl.
also. you are not alone in the everyone-rubbing-your-belly dept. i totally didn't mind. i would have whole converstations with someone while they held my tummy, waiting for liam to wiggle. of course, these were all people i knew.
i did work with a woman who, when she was pregnant, hated people touching her belly. it was SO HARD for me to resist! i wanted to hold it and talk to her little one in there. hee. i wanted to connect to the miracle of it all.
lastly, enjoy taking photos of everything other than your wee one. once he/she is here, it seems that is all that the lens gravitates too! lol
of course, that is NOT a bad thing.

so incredibly excited for you, sister.

rub that belly for me. xo
