The weekend after Labor Day weekend is always marked with the Reno Balloon Races. We are lucky enough to have front row seats to this event every year. This year, like others, we watched dawn patrol from our bedroom window, and made trips out into the street to ooh-and-awww at the sight above the house. Sometimes they even wind up landing in the neighborhood. This year our niece was lucky enough to take a ride in one of the balloons that landed in the neighboring cul-de-sac.
Even though they get started so early, this is our favorite summer time event that Reno holds. It brings tears to my eyes watching those giant orbs bob along in the sunrise.
This year was no exception.
We love our self-made balloon holiday. We made our in-the-dark hike down, watched them go up, and spent until 1, eating and chatting with dear friends. Can't beat it!
ReplyDeleteI think you must live right around the corner from my friend Jenn. She has two girls, Ali and Sam.
