Reno is Artown!

Artown opened last night- just  a few sights from the afternoon.
This is such a wonderful part of the summer here in town. It is the sixteenth year Artown has been around and each year is full of so many awesome artists of all kinds.

I am glad I had the chance to make it down for the opening event yesterday afternoon and evening.
I was let out of work early (more about work later, it's a little crazy right now and I am off for two weeks until the dust settles.)

I met my friend Lisa and her two boys along with O.
(Fifi had just fallen asleep at daycare, so I opted to leave her there to rest.
It was a fun date for O and I)

The sidewalk chalk was a huge hit with the boys.

There was a mural you could help to paint.

Bubbles to blow and catch.

The Discovery Museum (opening in mid September) was there with t-shirts for the kids to color.

There were also several other groups with activities like making recycled milk carton pinwheel flowers, shakers, and newspaper hats.
All of these things were in preparation for the 7pm 'parade' from McKinnely Art's Center to Wingfield Park- music provided by the March Fourth Marching Band.

We marched along, but O was a tad freaked out by all the people and loud
(how can a kid who is so loud himself, not like loud? I don't get it.)
Needless to say my camera was in my bag while we followed along with all the excitement.

Let art rule!!!

  2. Looks like an immensely fun time! Sidewalk chalk - because it was forbidden in our house - has such a special place in my heart.

  3. Loving the colors here!

I got home late from work so we didn't make it. However, I definitely remember going to participate last year and March Fourth was awesome.
