Halloween Fun - 2013

 20131031-20131031-IMG_9890
The sugar comma is starting to subside. Friday morning found us all a little groggy and hungover on hi-fructose corn syrup. That didn't stop my girl, she tip-toed off into her room with a bucket of loot and locked the door behind her. Let's just say she ate enough to make her self puke... whatever was left, I tossed into the trash can.
I am a mean, mean mama... Next year, the Switch Witch will do her job.
We had a super fun Halloween night. Our neighborhood was hopping with all sorts of fun. A few of the houses were over the top crazy with decoration and goodies bags of candy. There were tons of kids and the local news truck was even doing interviews. Sometimes, suburban life is pretty okay. Andy and I both agreed that if this was the level of excitement for pumpkins, Christmas is gong to be off the charts fun and crazy this year... Hide your milk and cookies Santa, Fifi is on the loose...

All Hallow's Eve

We carved our punkins weeks ago... At least I have massive amounts of cobwebs strung about the front porch and last year's Christmas lights (that we never bothered taking down) to make up for the molding messes that are pretending to be jack-o-lanters.
Pumpkin patch time.
At any rate, the day we carved our pumpkins it was a glorious evening in campsite 14. The sun was warm and the fire pit was going. The kids had both gotten naps, unlike today, and everyone was in a pretty darn festive mood. Today, I am having to explain over and over again why we can't eat all the existing candy in our house RIGHT (friggin) NOW. And also why we can't go trick-or-treating until tomorrow.

They don't just give out candy when you knock on the doors on just any old night kiddo... yeah, I don't get it either. At least I got them both a couple of costumes so they can prance around the house swapping out costumes every few of hours...

I will keep it spooky if you promise to do the same! Happy (almost) Halloween~

5 and 3

20130906-20130906-_MG_2818

They are getting big. O tried to curl up in my lap last week and his legs were all over the place. His head no longer clears the counter between the living room and kitchen so I have started to put a stool in the awkward place so he will take the turn wider and miss the head bonk. Last night he red a book to me and counted to 100.

Fifi is determined and mischievous as ever. testing boundaries and patience, yet making us crack up laughing always. She can command a room and is really good at getting every single eye in the room on her when she wants it. She loves to paint, play with dough, help me in the kitchen, eat chocolate and is the best mama to her babies and ponies, ever.

I adore how different these two are from one another, and yet that they are both from me and of me. Each teaching me differently on this path of mamahood.

Happy Birthday O and Fifi. I love you beyond words.

quiet moments with the kids

It doesn't happen that often these days, those quiet moments during the day.But every now and then, as the world whirls around us, I am stopped in my tracks.

Maybe it's the light or the way the wind is rustling around, what ever it is, I have to stop and take notice.  I breathe in and realize again, and again, and again that I have two amazing kids.

For as long as a dream lives inside of you, Vanessa, there's a plan for its time in space.  Trust me,      The Universe

I like that photography helps me slow down time, at least a little bit, with each shutter click.

Down by the River

 My two favorite ladies.

This being home stuff, well, we aren't really staying home.
I have been getting the kids out and about as much as I can, especially since the weather is amazing right now.

I love spring time in the high desert.

Yesterday, we met up with Jojo for a little nature walk and picnic.
It took about 1 minute for Fifi to take off her shoes and socks and walk into the icy cold water of the Truckee River.

On Any Given (Wednes)Day

Home day
there is rain, mixed with snow, mixed with sun shine and promises of rainbows.

Home day
they play together while we wait. Fifi keeps saying she is getting a hair cut.

Home day
He is so patient and such a rule follower. I am glad, because it makes it easier when it's his sister's turn to go.

Team work at the smile shop!
It pays off and she gets in the chair and even opens her mouth for the dentist!

Home day
We promptly break all the rules and have uncut juice and a sugar glazed doughnut.

Home day
A visit to Jojo's, glue sticks, crayons, snacks, and lots of hugs and kisses as we leave for nap time. Fifi was asleep before we hit the freeway and O didn't last much longer.

Sideways snow today... But the sun is also shining. Crazy Nevada weather.
Any given Wednesday in March.
