The Girl

Fifi, oh Fifi.

You are independent and feisty. Funny as all get out and my creative partner in crime.

You dress yourself- you have a major thing for PJs and dress upclothes of the princess variety.

You can tell me stories so long and elaborate that I need cliff notes to keep up, you love to paint and draw- sometimes in places you aren't supposed to or with mediums that I would rather see you eating then creating with. But, I usually let it slide because I see how happy it makes you to create and fill the world with COLOR!

You boss your brother around when you play "mommy and daddy", make me read you the Grinch Stole Christmas at least once a day and have your Daddy firmly wrapped around your pinky with your silly faces and jokes.

We passed the bottles onto the garbage man, you are working on going potty on the toilet and are sleeping so much more then you used to at night. When you tell me, "I'm a big girl" I nod my head yes and wonder where my itty bitty baby went.

See those hands up there? the ones on the "kit-tar". They still look like chubby todler hands in that shot, but don't let this image fool you. This kids is growing into his big kid shoes way too fast for me these days.



I am not really sure what to think about the fact that my little dude will be 5 years old in 5 months. He has accomplished so many things already this year.



He is riding a bicycle without training wheels, jumping into and swimming around the pool like a little fish, climbing trees like a monkey and writing words (with a bit of help still, but he has his letters down and knows what he wants to say).



I am so proud of this kid.Oh man, does my mama heart swell.

O-we-O-we-O Update

You have become an excellent bowler and like to go "bowling-pinning" on the weekends.

you and this dog, she even slept all night in your room with you the other day. You have mad love for her and it's beyond sweet.

Your NJ roots showing through...

You live up to your celestial name... you love the "Cranets" and learning about the stars and the night sky. it's pretty awesome watching you get excited as you look at the moon through the telescope.

You might loose your temper with Fifi-Mcgee, but you also love her so much and when you are nice, you are very very nice to her. You guys really are good buddies, when you aren't driving each other NUTS>

I don't know how many times in the past few weeks you told me about rock climbing. You "Almost rang the bell" and that is so brave! I can't wait to go with you guys next time.

I can't believe how big you are getting. you have grown more than an inch since November and half of your clothes are too short in the legs and arms. you say things like, "And then, suddenly..." and always have the "right" words to the song playing on the radio. 

You are writing your numbers and letters- unprompted by us. This is so fascinating to watch you learn. I can tell the next year is going to be an explosion of knowledge... I can't wait!

Fifi Update

full of beauty and brains- I love watching her think through a problem and solve it in the most unique way.


She still loves her milka-milk and a good hair twirling. I soak up the time I get to have her sit on my lap, especially on the weekends when I can really enjoy it.


She got a hair cut, a little bob that makes the back of her neck look so sweet and grown up (sorry kid for the crazy hairline, you have mama's duck tail). The pink still is yet to wash off of her scalp form almost a two weeks ago.


the feisty is strong, but so is the sweet.

Fifi, you are so much fun these days. you make me crazy- can you PLEASE just put on your clothes in the morning and KEEP them on, for more then a second? You make me smile- you singing "I'm a little tea pot" or "WASHED the spider out!" melts me every time. you are counting to ten and singing your ABC's proudly around the house while bouncing around in circles. You dance and sing to your own song and I do love that part about you more than anything.xoxoxo

Fifi

She getting so big, this girl of mine. Much more a toddler than a baby these days. Independent, sassy, rowdy and oh-so silly. She loves to keep up with the big kids and can too. But, every now and then I get to have her all to myself.

No brother, no daddy- just us girls. It's really fun to just watch her be her. I was inspired by Keli (Kidnapped by suburbia) the other day when she followed around each of her girls for 30 minutes or so while the other daughter was sleeping or out of the house.

I had a chance this weekend while O napped and Daddy ran errands, to do the same thing with Fifi. It was really fun to let her loose in the backyard and follow her lead. Thanks for the great idea, Keli.

So what is this girl up to these days? She knows just how to push her brother's buttons and get a reaction out of him, 1-2-3.

Telling me about the airplane she heard flying over head.

She is starting to use her words more and more, things like: car car, NO-dit-do (no thank you), peeeeese (with an entusiastic rub of her chest for please), hat, ball, byyyyyeeee, hyeeee (when the phone rings), maw-ka (milk), dast-da (Shasta, who is grandma and grandpa's dog), Ga-gaw (grandpa, which melts him every.single.time, btw) ba-t (bath). I am sure there are others that I am not thinking of right now. I love this stage when communication is just bursting out of them like a volcano.

She loves to be outside, but doesn't always like her hands to be dirty.

She eats really well, often better than her big brother. But when she is done, watch out- food is gonna fly. She thinks it's hysterical to chuck pieces of whatever it was we are eating across the room or to the dogs. That or she is spitting it out, which totally grosses me out, but she finds hystrical.

We are still working on sleep, but have found a nice evening routine that helps not just her, but her big brother sleep better at night. They are sharing a room right now, so if one doesn't sleep, the other one doesn't either.

She is up, down and all around as fast as fast can be. She climbs, tries to jump, and takes the curves with ease.
I can't believe she is almost a year and a half. It really does go by faster the second time around.
