ahh summer

You just keep getting better and better. Must you really draw to an end?
The days are getting shorter and nights are cooling down. But our calendars have just heated up- We are booked, I mean like double and triple booked for the next month (at least) with birthdays, baby showers and trips to the zoo. We are cramming in a little last minute camping and getting out of town here soon, it might be crazy but it feels like just the right thing to do. Even if my sewing machine has a line of projects that need to be cranked out for all these celebrations. It will get done. I just have to talk myself into staying up past 8:30 to do it!

I start teaching yoga again on a regular basis in a few weeks. I am really looking forward to it and need to get all my lesson plans pulled together for the 6 week workshop I am doing. If you are local and want the details drop me a line and I will send you the information.

So glad we put off chores to go to the park yesterday afternoon.
Look what fun we had...
Started the evening off with a little boccie ball. I think we have a future player on our hands.

Saturday in August

WindowO

Its been a sleepy Saturday today. I actually could use a bit more sleep since I spent most of nap time in the sewing room this morning.
We have a few chores to do, groceries, dishes, vacuuming, laundry. But are going to head to the park with friends to play and eat. That sounds like much more fun.

a boy, his blankie and his dog

hope you are having a nice weekend.

11 is Heaven

Yesterday marked 11 months! Here is a quick rundown of MrO activities and achievements for the month followed by 11 months of 'the chair', I am so glad I started doing this little ritual!

11mochair2

1. Two days after your 10 month mark you figured out how to clap.

2. You have started spending two days a week with JoJo-mama and giggle with glee when you hear her voice on the telephone.

11mochair3

3. You are learning how to drink out of a sippy cup. It is amazing how frustrated you get when you can't figure something out, the cup often goes flying across the room. You also love to drink what ever one of us is drinking from a 'real' glass.

4. We took you to your first concert, a reggae show. you are so much cooler than your mama who's first concert was to see NKTOB.

5. You are chattering all the time and are saying, "daaag" for dog and cat, "dada" for dad, "mama" for mom, "nanana" for milk especially when you are tired and want to nurse.

6. You are pulling up on everything and crawling everywhere- loving to ramble over pillows, dad's legs or whatever else is in your way and getting braver by the minute. You are starting to hold on with one hand and sometimes (for just a second or two) with no hands.

11mochair4

7. We can no longer leave you on the bed for naps- that first step's a doozie isn't it?

8. You can climb the stairs to the second floor and are learning how to go down too, backwards and on your tummy.

9. You often greet me standing up in your crib each morning and after naps. Sometimes smiling and sometimes screaming your head off. Have I mentioned you have some major volume to your voice?

10. Had your first taste of a Popsicle (lime) and were all at once thrilled and freaked out by how cold, sweet and sour it was.

11. You really love to get into the shower with me or Daddy-O in the morning. Now that you know what is on the other side of that shower door you want in too!

11mochair1

12. A couple of blankies are now your favorites for night time and naps. One was mine from when I was a baby. It is the sweetest thing to hear you get excited when you see it and I love to see you cuddle up with it and worm your fingers and toes in the granny square holes.

13. You were sent home with your first "naughty" note. Teeth are not for biting our friends. (no matter how good it feels).

14. We took you into the pool for the first time this month- at first you weren't sure and then you relaxed and practically fell asleep in the floaty you liked it so much.

15. It seems that no matter what barrier we put up to stop you from going into the next room or down/up the stairs you figure your way around it, over it, or under it - or you get totally stuck in the process. There have been more then a couple of times where I have found you stuck under the kitchen chairs. You are keeping us on our toes, that's for sure.

Look how much you have changed little man! it is truly amazing. We love you!

Things that make me happy

A totally random post of a few things that have made this day of "needing to get my screams out*", into a day of "I am blessed, I am happy, I am normal, I am loved".

All you awesome people and your photo love lately. Thank you for your encouragement, sweet words and props. I do really, really appreciate them- truly. Thank you.

splashers
These two little babes and the girl's baby-mama who I am glad to call my best friend.

parsley*lemon*garlic
real food that is full of flavor, I was making this- my go to summer pasta right now (I don't bake it off and actually like it cold better than warm, mmm).

new do*photobooth
And a funky new hair cut complete with new hair clips and product. A stylist who can take a random set of instructions and turn it into a sweet new look, or in her words, "Shut the front door, this is cute".
Oh, and the (film) photobooth** that is located in the bar behind the salon, purdy much rocks my socks. (my scanner took a poop so even though I have a bunch of stuff to scan including these strips, they will have to wait until we get a replacement scanner or I can find someone who is willing to share theirs).

* "Getting your screams out" is a term I coined when I was little. It is something I made up when I felt like I needed nothing more then to let out all that pent up energy, aggression, or frustration with a good old primal scream or five. Totally fine for a 6 year old, not so socially acceptable in public by a grown woman.

** I got to meet the infamous a-go-gos yesterday. I have instax proof, even though we had planned to get photoboothic proof. It was a tad to early in the day for the bar to be open, thus they will just have to come back thru so we can make it happen. We did jump though and do a few selfies (Jek will have to share when she returns to the internets, my camera was out of batteries). BTW, they are the sweetest two people- easy to talk with and visit just like we had known each other for a long time. I was so happy to get to be part of there vacation plans :)

Weekending- Plumas Eureka State Park

Over the weekend we headed up to Greagle to visit with family. It was a nice escape from the Reno heat and we got to see an aunt and uncle we haven't seen in probably two years. It was a nice visit and fun to introduce MrO to more of his family. He was in a great mood and ate his weight in watermelon on Saturday night. The kid can eat.
On Sunday we did a little exploring around the area. Just outside of Greagle there are several other little towns and a State Park. it is so fun to check out part of our region that has such a rich (no pun intended) history.Mining is a large part of California and Nevada's past and it is fascinating to imagine what it was like to live during a time that was much more simple, and yet so much more complicated than today. I can only imagine what the drone of the stamp mill must have been like or the ruggedness needed to survive the winter without the luxury of central heating and snowblowers!

larger than they appear
(That is a tree floating in there, not a twig like it looks. The perspective is all off in this shot, but trust me, "objects in pool are larger than they appear" See how tiny Daddy-O and Papa-Mike look down there?)
jump
After we checked out the museum, camp ground and the mill at the State Park we headed over to a secret (or not so secret??) hike that leads you down to an amazing set of swimming holes.
I had my flip flops on so was nervous to use the rope ladder down to the pools. So I wasn't able to get in the water or to get a good shot of the falls this time. We are planning to go back though and I will have proper foot wear on when we do. The water is crystal clear and sparkling, 10-20 feet deep in spots. Sounds like a good place to spend an August afternoon to me.
