red, white and (stop being so) blue

I guess I couldn't have asked for a better weekend to be put on leave. It's hard to sit and feel sorry for yourself too long when the festivities for the Fourth of July roll around. It is one of my favorite holidays, there aren't a ton of expectations, no gifts to buy and stress like that. What there is though is good food, fireworks, swimming, parades, and family and friends.
Because the holiday fell on Monday this year, we were able to spend time with both family at the cabin and friends back here in town.
We also got to enjoy not one, but two firework shows and I think I have successfully eaten my share of ribs for the year (talk to me again when the Rib Cook Off comes to town though...).

Saturday morning we headed up to Greagle to spend time at the cabin.

We had ribs.

The cousins played and played together.

Sunday was more playing, sno-cones and bounce houses for O in the morning while Fifi napped,
snow cone line up
and a dip in the Mill pond for Fifi while O napped in the afternoon.

Grandpa made a fire in the pit and Grandma showed off her inner girl scout skills and showed the kids tricks for the best s'mores ever.

Monday, we packed up and headed home. The kids napped and then we went to friend's for dinner and fireworks.

Our kids happen to all go to the same daycare, but are about a year apart in age-
That didn't seem to matter much-
O and C got along great, I even caught them holding hands as C gave O a tour around the yard. s
ooo sweet.

After dinner we loaded up and drove up a giant hill,
a-la-Nevada style, and found an awesome spot to view the show.

It really was a great weekend and I am so glad it helped me take my mind off of things.

  1. LOVE the little one with a big ball. Too cute.

And the one of your little fam on top of the hill getting ready to watch the show is awesome. Perfect.

Looks like it was a magical weekend. :)
