The Odyssey

Last Friday Andy and I set out on a little adventure. It included lots of sweat and a tiny, little bit of sleep.

Don't get all crazy on me now, although these girls did. (Keep Calm and Run Thong).

We were on a team with 10 other people running the Reno Tahoe Odyssey. 

 

 

The course loops from Reno to Truckee, to Lake Tahoe, through Genoa and Carson City, up to Virginia City and back down to Reno.



One hundred and seventy eight miles in all. 

We had so much fun, pushed ourselves super hard and made some new friends along the way.

 

I never thought I would say this, but I can't WAIT for next year's race.

 

What a crazy and totally fun event.

Although our team wasn't in it to set any records, we are pretty proud of our times and accomplishment.

We came in 46th out of 148 in our division and 97th out of 256 overall!

Color Me

My third race of this year... The Reno Color Me Rad. 

I like having something to keep me motivated in the exercise department, but this was way more for the fun and awesome crowd energy then anything else.

I didn't bring my camera, but man, there was some good shots wanting to be made...I wouldn't have wanted to carry it for the entire 5K, and I would have been too worried about it's safety with all that cornstarch flying around.
That said,  ere are few fun photos from the finish line...

I met up with three friends from work and my best friend this morning after some chaos up at the starting line Finding anyone, including yourself in the sea of white t-shirts and sunglasses was hard! 

After some mad texting, I finally found my crew.

I totally forgot how hilly the UNR campus is, good thing I have been running up big hills with my coworkers the past couple of weeks, made it a lot easier. I have no idea what my time was, and really, it doesn't matter. Just the fact that I have Rainbow Brite boogers and a giant (temporary) tattoo on my arm that says, "RAD" is enough for me.

Foam Fest!!!

My best-friend and I have done some silly things together, but yesterday's Foam Fest 5K run might be up there on the list.

It was a windy and cold day up at Rancho San Rafael Park.

We waited until the last minute to take our sweatshirt off. BURR...

Andy and the kids were nice enough to come up and cheer us, as well as snap a few photos of the even for me.

The run was a little harder than I thought it was going to be. I forgot about all the great hills at the park.
(I need to get over there to train for what ever crazy race I decide to do next.)

The obstacles were silly and fun.
They included slip and slides, mud. a couple of walls to climb and of course, a lot of FOAM!!!
I wish it had been a tad warmer, it literally took me the entire day to warm back up.
